Connect your AI assistant to LazyEdits
With the LazyEdits MCP server, you tell Claude, Codex, Cursor or Antigravity what you want, for example “take the clips in my Videos folder and make a fast TikTok ad”, and the finished edit appears in LazyEdits, ready to change by hand and export. It works on every plan, including Free.
Version 1.0.0 · Windows, Mac and Linux · about 65 KB · installs its parts from the internet on first run
Install in 3 steps
1. Get the basics
Install Node.js (the “LTS” version from nodejs.org) and Google Chrome. You only do this once.
2. Run the installer
Unzip the download. On Windows double-click Install-Windows.bat. On Mac / Linux open Terminal in the folder and run bash Install-Mac-Linux.command. It adds LazyEdits to every supported AI app it finds on your computer.
3. Restart your AI app
Fully quit the app (in Claude Desktop use the tray or menu-bar icon, then Quit) and open it again. Ask: “Use LazyEdits to look at my Videos folder.” The first time, a Chrome window opens. Sign in to LazyEdits there; it remembers you.
Which apps are set up automatically
| App | What the installer does |
|---|---|
| Claude Desktop | Adds LazyEdits to its settings file. |
| Claude Code | Runs claude mcp add for you (available in all your projects). |
| Cursor | Adds LazyEdits to ~/.cursor/mcp.json. |
| Codex | Adds LazyEdits to ~/.codex/config.toml. |
| Antigravity and other MCP apps | The installer prints a short block of text. Paste it into the app’s MCP settings (in Antigravity: Manage MCP servers, then View raw config). |
Your existing settings are kept. The installer saves a backup copy of each settings file the first time it changes it. To remove everything, run node install.mjs --remove in the unzipped folder.
What you can say
- “Look in my folder Videos/Podcast and tell me what clips I have.”
- “Upload those clips, make a calm YouTube video and show me the result before exporting.”
- “Make a fast TikTok ad from these clips with one-word captions.”
- “Record my website for one minute and save it in my Videos folder.”
- “Export the video into Videos/Done.”
Your assistant only opens LazyEdits and does the clicking for you. The edit, the effects and the export run in your own LazyEdits account and use your tokens. Your AI assistant itself runs on your own plan with its provider.
Free plan: MCP works, with the same limit of 3 minutes of video per day. LazyMotion, LazyIcons and voice generation need a paid plan.
Keeping it connected
- The helper is installed on your computer, so it starts in a second. It does not download anything each time your AI app opens.
- Do not move or delete the folder
.lazyeditsin your home folder. If you update or move Node.js, run the installer again. - If your AI app does not show LazyEdits, fully quit it and open it again. Closing the window is not enough.
- Claude Desktop writes a log you can check:
mcp-server-lazyedits.login its “logs” folder. - If Windows SmartScreen or your antivirus warns about the .bat file, choose “More info”, then “Run anyway”. It only runs the steps listed above.
Manual setup (any MCP app)
If your app was not found, paste this into its MCP settings. Replace the two paths with the ones printed at the end of the installer.
